About Dillon
Dillon lives in Clayton. He is 15 years old and is a ninth grader at Corinth Holder High School. Serving in his church and being an active member of his church youth group is always a top priority and an enjoyment for Dillon. He carries this enjoyment wherever he goes. Dillon strives to be the best he can be in all areas. He maintains honor roll at school and is a member of the Key Club. His concentration and focus also helped in achieving his Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. Dillon is respectful and well liked. After graduating from high school, he plans to attend N.C. State University and major in Mechanical Engineering and minor in Business.
Dillon has always had a passion for racing. He has been featured in several newspaper articles. One such feature, was a joint article on Dillon’s racing and Rush Hour Karting (Garner, N.C.). This article is currently on display in their facility.
Dillon started racing at the age of 7. He raced high performance go karts for over 3 years. During this time, he won over 100 races and earned multiple titles. Among these are: 2007 Indoor Champion, National Champion, North South Champion, Burris Champion, Lucas Oil Race Champion, and runner-up Jr. Kahuna Champion.
For 2 years, Dillon raced a bandolero. A bandolero is a 750 lb., ¼ scale stock car that is raced at over 200 tracks around the U.S., Canada, and Europe. It is Internationally sanctioned by INEX, with over 5,000 members. While racing his bandolero, Dillon earned the honors of 2008 Orange County Fall Brawl Track Points Champion, 2009 Orange County Summer Slam Track Points Champion, 2009 Orange County Fall Brawl Track Points Champion, and he finished 8th in the 2009 National Points ranking.
In 2010, Dillon decided to start a new chapter in his racing career. He started racing Legends. A Legend is a 1300 lb., 5/8 scale version of the 1930’s/1940’s roadsters and is also sanctioned by INEX. During his first Legend racing season, Dillon won the 2010 Carolina Competition Sports Winter Bash Points Championship and then followed that by winning the 2011 Little Rock Points Championship at Rockingham. Also in the 2011 season, Dillon was honored by finishing 2nd in both the Coastal Plains Raceway and Wake County Speedway Points Championships.
Dillon looks to the 2012 racing season with exciting goals. He will continue racing the Legend, as well as starting his career in a Late Model, owned by Jason Holshouser of Ventus Racing. He would like to eventually see his racing dream fulfilled with an opportunity to race with NASCAR. He’s had a great start, but the road is long. Dillon continues to look forward to the journey ahead.
